Tips on Organizing

  • Before you start, have a clear idea of what the purpose of the area will be.  This helps deciding on what needs to leave and what can stay.

  • Some items are difficult to let go.  Often there is a memory or an emotional attachment  assigned to it.  Ask yourself, "if it is so important why is collecting dust at the back of the closet?"

  • Take the time to say goodbye to items, try not to rush this process. Limit yourself to two - three hours intervals.  Don't try and do it all in one weekend!

  • Almost every item that we own is replaceable, space is not.

  • Take a picture of an item that you no longer have space for, but has meaning to you or your family.  Take the time to write down what was important about it.

  • Be creative, try and find a new use for an item that has not been used for awhile.

  • Less is usually more.  Less is easier to keep organized.

  • Focus on your most important priorities as you remove clutter, this will be the key to your success.

Imagine letting go of those things that no longer serve you and keeping only what you love and need.

This liberating experience can add to the quality of your life.  When you are finished, you will be surrounded by the very best of what you have collected over the years and none of the "stuff" that has accumulated in your house.
